ICAM
Systems
The ICAM system is a campus card system designed to meet the total card system
needs in a corporate or institutional environment. The system is designed to be
easily customized on an institution and per user basis to fit the needs of a
particular environment. The system is designed to work in a distributed data
environment, collecting its information from and posting it to a variety of
external systems. It is designed to have the system data managed in a
distributed fashion, allowing each administrator who works with the system to
have their own view of the system. These views may be restricted so that the
administrator can view and change only the data for which they are authorized. Security
is an important aspect of the ICAM system. Another feature of the system is
that it allows card
readers to be connected to terminal
servers distributed on a campus network.
ICAM
System Components
-
The transaction
processing component of the system provides the programs and data to operate the
card readers.
-
The database part of the
system serves as a central collection site for data about the cardholders
using the system. The database part of the system also provides the utilities
and programs to allow users to interact with the ICAM database to maintain it.
The ICAM system also supports distributed system operation with users
connecting to a database on a single host and transaction processing occurring
on one or more host computers.
